Twelve of the most beautiful songs of John Dowland, the greatest song-writer of Elizabean and Jacobean England and an exact contemporary of Shakespeare. It includes some of his best-known and favourite songs and also some of his finest songs from his late period.
The accompaniments may be played either on a lute, from the original tablature; or on a guitar, from the tablature; or on a guitar, from the newly arranged guitar transcription.
Pieces are: Come again! sweet Love doth now invite, Sleep, wayward thoughts, Awake, sweet love, Flow, my tears, I saw my lady weep, Shall I sue, Flow not so fast, ye fountains, Say, Love, if ever thou didst find, Sweet, stay awhile, To ask for all thy love, Stay, Time, awhile thy flying, Time stands still.
