The Complete Works of Gaspar Sanz - 2 Volumes - 2 CD's

Edited by Jerry Willard. Gaspar Sanz Instruccion de Musica sobre la Guitarra Espanola is universally regarded as the classic text that has influenced the course of the Spanish guitar for over 300 years. Written in 1697 it contains over one hundred guitar pieces with tunes presented in their original baroque-guitar tablature along with exact transcriptions in modern standard notation. Sanz's music ranges from simple strummed pieces in the rasqueado style to the intricate, contrapuntal fantasias, pavanas, and gallardas using the plucked punteado style.

In addition, over forty-five selected tunes are presented in arrangements for the modern classical guitar, and include historical and performance notes as well as a translation of the original text.
